Why I’d Die Living in the Countryside

Sounds pretty intense right? Well it is, but this is truly how I feel. Here is my explanation for it.

The countryside is beautiful and peaceful, but I could only stay for a short period of time. Having my permanent residence there would be impossible.
Born and raised in the city, I was always surrounded by some sort of noise, whether it be people, cars, the police or even my neighbour’s phone ringing (no joke). In Summer, most people would have their doors and windows open, and you could hear their phone ring from across the backstreet. This also meant that I sometimes slept with the windows open and through the sounds of cars and people passing on the street. Lets not forget those assholes that absolutely need to make their motocycle engine screech at 1AM. I was so used to hearing noise that when it would be silent for too long, I’d be comforted to hear people walking and chatting quietly in the Summer night. However, people who stop directly in front of your house to chitchat, or should I say yell because of how drunk they are, has never been and never will be a delightful experience. Although I’m pretty sure we’ve all done it, so who am I to complain.
The countryside is quiet and relaxing, but being so accustomed to noise and action means that there’s only so much quietness and nature that I can tolerate. Yes everything is pretty and the air isn’t full of pollution that’s slowly killing us, but you can’t even enjoy a night out without having to put on some bug spray. In the countryside you can finally see the stars at night, but you can’t enjoy it because you need to grease up with bug repellent to still end up getting mosquito bites. In the city you don’t need to worry about mosquitos and other annoying bugs, but you can’t see the stars because of light pollution. At this point, I’d rather just Google pictures of a star filled sky and read my horoscope while I’m at it.
Plus, in the countryside everything is so far from everything. Got home from doing your groceries and just realized you forgot to pick up some milk? No worries, you just need to hop back into your car for a 10 day drive. Okay, I’m exaggerating. I meant a 5 day drive.

Needless to say, if I lived in the countryside I would certainly enjoy the beauty and purity of nature, but I would end up getting pretty bored pretty quick. There’s only so much frolicking in the grass that I can do.
If you live in the countryside or if you’ve ever lived there, tell me about it. I’m genuinely curious as to how you’re doing it. Send me a message on my Facebook Page or a DM on Insta. I'll feature you on my Instagram! 🌹
