For Men: Why You Should Invest in Cologne

Out of our 5 senses, Smell is the only one that has a direct connection to the part of our brain dedicated to memory. This means that our memories are more strongly awakened by scents. Smell definitely has a lasting impact, so you want to make the right one. Plus, don’t you want others *ahem that certain someone* to remember you?

If you think your natural body odour smells orgasmic, you should think that over.

Ever realized that when you go somewhere that smells dirty you automatically assume that it is? The same thing happens if you smell bad, so you don’t want that to happen. Of course, I’m not telling you that you can skip the shower and that cologne will be there to save your day. A good shower, deodorant and some after-shave go a long way, but cologne is the perfect final touch. It reinforces that you are a clean, well-kept and sharp man, which is very charming.

It’s attractive when someone has their own signature scent. You’re probably thinking: “Signature scent? That's bullshit, what if I end up wearing the same cologne as another guy?” Don’t worry, your body odour interacts with the fragrance, which somewhat changes it. Whichever cologne you decide on, you’ll have your own scent. You most certainly know that girlfriends love stealing their boyfriend’s shirts and hoodies. Why is that? Because we love floating in your clothes, but also because we love your smell! So having your very own alluring scent will make it all the more special.

How should you choose a fragrance? Pick the one that attracts you. In a study conducted, participants wore a fragrance they had picked and one that was assigned to them. The fragrance of their own choosing was rated as more attractive and pleasant than the other. This suggests that we have a sense of what fits well with our odour. Obviously, if you’re hesitating between two choices, it’s always good to have someone else’s opinion. Before purchasing, it’s a good idea to try on the cologne for the day, to see how its scent interacts with yours.

Extra Tip : avoid storing in the bathroom or in sunlight. Temperature fluctuations, humidity and sunlight will deteriorate your cologne.
